Castle Assignment Lesson

Topic: Historical Architecture

Grade: High School 10-12th grades.

Time Period: ~6 hours

 

Lesson Overview

            Students are assigned to research on a castle of their choice as long as it is different than classmates. Research can be done on the internet or library. After students complete the assignment they are required to share what they have learned with the one partner and then the entire class. Students are encouraged to share pictures and info with entire class in the form of a brief presentation. Students are required to use the requirement page provided and fill in their part of the evaluation page.

           

Things to watch out for:

                        -Students not using their own words. (copying from the internet)

                        -Students wasting time while looking for information.

                        -Students picking a castle with very little information.

                        -Students will benefit from example.

            Report 80 points

            Partner Share CR/NC

            Verbal presentation 20 points

            100 total points

 

Objectives

 

            Students will learn about early architecture through castle exploration.

            Students will improve writing and research skills.

            Students will improve on verbal communication skills.

            Students will learn to follow guidelines and directions.
