This lesson could be used to emphasize team building and get students thinking about the battle robot contest at the MITES competition.

PROBLEM:
You are to build a model battle bot.
There
can be moving parts, you can do the moving
Manually
or use strings or rubber bands but no motors.
150 points
Weight Classification: Size
of cardboard box will be given out.
Materials that can be used: Paper, cardboard, dowels, sticks,
Duct
tape, glue, hot glue, staples and paint.
Tools that are available: Metal shears, electric
drill, hand saw,
metal bender, sheet metal shears, and scissors.
You must make: several sketches of your ideas, then
make one
Sketch to build your battle bot from.
You must write: a short presentation of who did what.
What do the parts do and why your bot is going to win.
You must label each tool part and tell what it does.
You must make an Oral Presentation: Demonstrate to the
class what
Each part does and tell why you think your bot will
win.
This will be video taped.
